\u00a0There\u2019s something about food that makes even the most cynical individual a muddling, blubbering, slobbering fool. \u00a0We start with a sweet note, as Sandhya Hariharan sends us a delectable chocolate truffle recipe from London.<\/p>\n<p>In Sandhya\u2019s own words:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018Tis the season for jingles, glitter, red ribbons, papers crunching, gift wrappers leaving tell-tale signs on the floor. \u00a0How quickly a year has passed! \u00a0Are we ready to welcome a new year so soon?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018Tis also the season for homemade goodies as people cook for family, friends, and colleagues and their ovens go on overdrive.\u00a0 I bet there is no other month that can boast of such an overload of cookies, candy, cakes and sweets as much as December can. \u00a0The sweet aroma of baking, spices, and sugar wafts through the air, and I think this is as good a time as any to make some delicious chocolate truffle. \u00a0It\u2019s easy and indulgent and you just can\u2019t stop with one!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>My first experience with truffle was when a family friend brought us a box of Belgian truffle. \u00a0As I took bite after bite, with the cocoa powder and soft truffle melting on my tongue, I was in love! \u00a0I\u2019m pretty sure that you will love truffle, too.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>What are you waiting for?\u00a0 Try it out!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<table border=\"1\" width=\"653\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\u00a0Plain chocolate<\/td>\n<td>\u00a075 gm<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\u00a0Dark chocolate (70% cocoa)<\/td>\n<td>\u00a0100 gm<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\u00a0Whipped cream\/double cream\/extra-thick fresh cream<\/td>\n<td>\u00a075 ml<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\u00a0Vanilla essence<\/td>\n<td>\u00a01 tsp<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\u00a0Cocoa powder<\/td>\n<td>\u00a04-5 tbsp<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>\u00a0Icing sugar<\/td>\n<td>\u00a03-4 tbsp<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Break the chocolate into uniform pieces<\/li>\n<li>Heat the cream in a milk pan on a medium simmer and bring it to boil, while whisking continuously<\/li>\n<li>Turn off the heat and add the chocolate pieces. \u00a0Whisk it until it is blended well. \u00a0This mixture is known as \u201cganache\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Add the vanilla essence to the ganache and stir well<\/li>\n<li>Cover the mixture with cling film (this is done to prevent the formation of a thick crusty layer) and refrigerate it for roughly 1 hour to 1.5 hours, until it sets<\/li>\n<li>When the mixture has set, use a teaspoon or melon scooper to scoop out bite-sized pieces. \u00a0Dust your hands lightly with icing sugar to prevent the ganache from sticking to your palm, and roll the scooped ganache into uniform-sized balls<\/li>\n<li>Roll the truffle in cocoa powder and place on a tray for it to set<\/li>\n<li>If you are afraid of hand-rolling the truffle, scoop out the set ganache with a teaspoon or scooper and gently drop it into a plate dusted with cocoa powder. \u00a0Use a tea sieve to then dust cocoa on the truffle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Storing\/serving<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The prepared truffles can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. \u00a0Dust cocoa powder on them before serving to give them an extra hit of flavor<\/li>\n<li>You could also store the truffle individually in tiny paper cases<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-296\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jodi365.com\/singledout\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/truffle.png\" alt=\"truffle\" width=\"240\" height=\"241\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jodi365.com\/singledout\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/truffle.png 240w, https:\/\/www.jodi365.com\/singledout\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/truffle-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Verdict<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My group of tasters did a blind tasting, and enjoyed every second of the slow transformation of flavor from the initial hit of bitter cocoa to the soft, gooey ganache that melts in your mouth. \u00a0This is one dessert that is perfect for every chocolate lover, especially if you like dark chocolate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kitchen notes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that you use the best-quality products while making this truffle. \u00a0The ingredients play a huge part in the flavor profile of the truffle. \u00a0(I used Lindt chocolates and Cadbury Cocoa Powder.)<\/li>\n<li>You could add some jazz to the truffles by using various ingredients. \u00a0Some interesting ones are icing sugar, more melted chocolate, and nuts.<\/li>\n<li>You could splash your truffles with some Bailey\u2019s Irish Cream or Rum for a liquor-flavored treat.<\/li>\n<li>If you\u2019re not a fan of dark chocolate, regular milk chocolate is also a good option.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Images courtesy of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sandhyas-kitchen.blogspot.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Sandhya\u2019s Kitchen<\/a>\u00a0and reproduced with permission.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Editor&#8217;s note:<\/p>\n<p>Are you a dessert-lover?
