Yes<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2673\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jodi365.com\/singledout\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/yes.gif\" alt=\"Nodding the head means yes\" width=\"346\" height=\"397\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is one of the many forms of the Indian head bobble or the Indian head shake. \u00a0This one is our way of saying yes.<\/p>\n<h2>3.\u00a0No<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2674\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jodi365.com\/singledout\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/no.gif\" alt=\"No\" width=\"263\" height=\"185\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is the swag way of saying no. \u00a0Although finger-wagging is a way of reprimanding or warning somebody, in India, it means a solid no. \u00a0Especially if it is done by one of your parents. \u00a0If you choose to pay no heed, be prepared to face their wrath!<\/p>\n<h2>4. Are you kidding me?!<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jodi365.com\/singledout\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/are-you-kidding-me.gif\" alt=\"are-you-kidding-me\" width=\"500\" height=\"208\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yeah, sometimes we hide disbelief with a fake smile while totally judging you in our head. \u00a0Aishwarya&#8217;s expression cannot be more on point.<\/p>\n<h2>5. I&#8217;ll remind you of your grandmother! (<em>Naani yaad diladoongi!<\/em>)<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2676\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jodi365.com\/singledout\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/5.gif\" alt=\"The Indian slap\" width=\"500\" height=\"264\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Nani yad diladoongi<\/em> is an expression that many of us\u00a0use, usually as a threat to remind the person about the trouble they will get into if they cross us. \u00a0The\u00a0<em>thappad\u00a0<\/em>and the ensuing reaction are inherent to a majority of old Indian movies.<\/p>\n<h2>6. How much?<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2677\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jodi365.com\/singledout\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/how-much.gif\" alt=\"Hand gesture for 'how much?'\" width=\"420\" height=\"179\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, instead of asking the shopkeeper &#8216;how much&#8217;, we resort to hand gestures such as this one. \u00a0It may seem odd to an outsider, but it makes perfect sense to us in India.<\/p>\n<h2>7. Had food?<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2678\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jodi365.com\/singledout\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/had-food.gif\" alt=\"Expression for 'did you eat?'\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It makes us wonder if a<em>unty-jis, dadis<\/em>, and <em>n<\/em><em>anis<\/em> are always on the lookout for somebody to feed. \u00a0From the minute you step into their house, you&#8217;ll be offered, hand-fed, and sometimes even force-fed all the goodies. \u00a0And the gesture that goes with it? \u00a0Yup, this is the one.<\/p>\n<h2>8. Shy!<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2679\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jodi365.com\/singledout\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/shy.gif\" alt=\"When a girl is shy\" width=\"500\" height=\"213\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is just an overexagerated way of portraying shyness. \u00a0In the olden days, when heroines in movies were depicted as being\u00a0overtly feminine, this was one of their favorite gestures to get the message across.<\/p>\n<h2>9. Oh, God!<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2680\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jodi365.com\/singledout\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/oh-goshh.gif\" alt=\"The expression that sums up 'Oh God!'\" width=\"500\" height=\"199\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Whether you are a schoolkid or an adult, you will definitely know what this one means. \u00a0This is\u00a0the expression we used to have when Tendulkar\u00a0was on strike at 99, or in school when we realized that the teacher was going to start calling out loud the recent test paper results.<\/p>\n<h2>10.
