Many people believe that the alignment of stars and planets at the time of one\u2019s birth has a profound effect on the kind of person they turn out to be. \u00a0If you are of that sort, then all this recent media hullaballoo about how the zodiac has shifted must be perplexing indeed. \u00a0Take my case, for instance. \u00a0I was supposedly not a creative, volatile and attractive Aquarian any more; I had been shifted to the group of stable, hardworking and disciplined Capricorns. \u00a0I went from being the rockstar of the astrological world to becoming its bank teller. Imagine that!<\/p>\n
Perturbed by this change in my stellar status, I did a little research. \u00a0It turns out that the 12 \u2018sun signs\u2019 of the western zodiac are attached to the four seasons of the year, a part of what\u2019s called the tropical zodiac. They aren\u2019t really affected<\/a> by the recalibrations of the Earth\u2019s distance from the 13 constellations (Ophiuchus being the \u2018new\u2019 one that has been causing all this trouble). The recalibrations are mostly relevant to what\u2019s known as the sidereal zodiac, which is followed by some of the eastern astrological systems, such as the\u00a0Jyotish<\/em> system.<\/p>\n I plan to check with some astrologer friends on what that means to horoscope matching on the basis of my kundli<\/em>. \u00a0For now, it is reassuring that, at least according to the western zodiac, my sun sign remains unchanged. \u00a0So, if you used to be a Pisces and happen to be looking for a love match and horoscope compatibility among Cancers and Scorpios, worry not \u2013 you can continue doing the same!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Image courtesy of Remko van Dokkum<\/a> via Creative Commons<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Editor’s note:<\/p>\n
