We are a well-funded, privately-held company, backed by a seasoned group of entrepreneurs and advisors. We are growing and have a number of internships and job openings at our Indian subsidiary, FreeElective Network Pvt. Ltd., based in Chennai.
About this job:
We are looking for a talented programmer to help build elegant and responsive web applications and user interfaces for the Jodi365 family of sites. The work would be at FreeElective Network's office in the heart of Chennai, a few miles from the IIT-Madras campus. The position represents a terrific opportunity to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, especially for someone who is excited about a career in software engineering. Responsibilities:
- Design, test, develop, and deploy production-ready web applications using the LAMP stack and client-side code
- Build elegant, responsive, and optimized (cross-platform) web applications and user interfaces with xHTML/CSS, JavaScript, and Ajax
- Understand how users interact with our features through extensive use of analytics and continuously improve user experience
- Resolve application issues/bugs that may arise
- Assist management team in ensuring efficient progress of workflow and transforming business visions into reality
Qualifications:
Requirements:
- Exceptional PHP and xHTML/CSS coding skills and expertise in content management systems (primarily Drupal)
- Deep JavaScript/Ajax/DHTML experience, including framework experience (such as Google Web Toolkit, Prototype, and Dojo) and debugging tools (such as Venkman and Firebug)
- Able to design, code, unit test, and debug complex, DOM-based web software applications supporting multiple browsers
- Able to take mockups (including slicing PSDs) and create high-performance web pages
Preferences:
- Demonstrated aptitude for programming and prior web application development experience
- Experience in an Agile development life cycle
- Fluency in Flash, Flex, MySQL, mobile web design, Facebook's developer platform and/or Open Social
- Solid understanding of object-oriented design, coding, and testing patterns
- College student or Master's candidate in computer science or related major

- Willingness to learn, switch roles as necessary, and to roll up one's sleeves to get a job done
